So, you’ve seen our team and have been given the green light to go ahead with invisible aligners. Great!

This is an exciting time to receive this treatment, as more people than ever before are discovering the advantages of using invisible aligners for more reasons than the fact they are simply aesthetically pleasing!

When you decide to use invisible aligners like Invisalign Ryde, our team at Spa Dental will be happy to offer our professional insight into the process and the aftercare. We have worked with this brand of aligner for many years, and we know all there is to know about using it correctly to get the smile you want.

So, what do you need to do in order to ensure that this aligner works for you? With Invisalign Ryde, the ball is more in your court than ours with the treatment, and here are our tips to ensure the realignment goes ahead as planned.

Keep them clean

Much like braces, in order to prevent the aligners from causing issues with your oral health, you will need to clean the aligners regularly. You should brush and rinse your Invisalign Ryde trays thoroughly with lukewarm water before putting them back in your mouth. You can also use a soft-bristled toothbrush and toothpaste to gently clean the aligners; this will remove any food or debris that has become stuck to them.

Avoid staining

Even though they are only worn for 2 weeks at a time, if they aren’t clear, they aren’t invisible aligners. Avoid consuming food and drink that can stain the aligners, such as coffee, tea, red wine, and coloured sports drinks. In fact, our team recommends that if you are consuming these drinks, you take the aligners out.

Keep them safe

Yes, the aligners are hardy enough to move your teeth, but they are not hardy enough to manage being crushed while in your pocket or your bag. When we give you your aligners, they will come with a case, and we will advise you to keep them in a case when you’re not wearing them. This will keep them clean and protect them from external forces that could damage them or cause them to warp.

Clean your teeth

Back to your oral health for a second! When you have invisible aligners and have taken them out to eat, you should brush and floss your teeth before putting your aligners back in. This helps to ensure that your teeth are clean before you put the aligners back in your mouth. It also prevents food debris that has built up on your teeth from being pushed against your teeth and gums, once again keeping your mouth healthy.

Keep them in

Yes, the aligners are removable, but you need to keep them in for them to work. This orthodontic treatment requires wearing the aligners for at least 22 hours a day for the best results. If you leave them out for longer than the 2 hours maximum each day, you may notice that your teeth stop moving or that they revert back to their previous positions in your mouth.
