Invisalign – the invisible method of straightening your teeth

invisalign-ryde

Invisalign Ryde is an excellent alternative to traditional orthodontic braces for correcting misalignments and malocclusions which are minor conditions. There are many different factors that can affect the alignment of your teeth. Not only do these factors affect the appearance of your smile, but they can also have a significant negative impact on your dental health. If you do not straighten your teeth early on in life then you can suffer from dental complications as an adult. Thanks to advances in dental technology there are a range of braces for teeth straightening in adults.

Many braces for adults are now designed to be discreet or invisible so that they do not draw unwanted attention to the mouth. In previous generations people often avoided teeth straightening because braces lacked subtleness when worn, but since the start of the millennium there now exists a good diversity of options available for patients. Of these options, Invisalign Ryde is one of the most popular across the world.

Aligners

Invisalign Ryde works using a sequence of clear, bpa-free thermoplastic aligners that are digitally designed and manufactured with the expertise of one of our dentists here at Spa Dental Ryde. The number of aligners that you need varies depending on the extent of dental misalignment and malocclusion that you are suffering from. Each aligner is worn for approximately 2 weeks at a time and the entire process can take between 6 and 12 months. If you have complicated orthodontic issues then this could be longer. The aligners are almost invisible and you can forget that they are in your mouth and continue with your daily activities. They need to be removed at meal times, helping you to enjoy your food and drink and also to prevent damage to the aligners. The aligners exert pressure on your teeth and push them into a neater formation.

Attachments

As part of the Invisalign clear aligner system, you will have attachments placed onto the surface of your teeth. According to your treatment plan, our dentist will know how many attachments you need for your teeth. These attachments are small, made of tooth-coloured material that are glued to your teeth and help achieve the best teeth straightening results.  They help the aligners grip onto your teeth and therefore increase the pressure on your teeth. They can make removing and replacing the aligners slightly difficult. The easiest way to do it and put the least amount of stress on the aligners is to start on one side, remove the other side, then remove the aligners from the front of your teeth. Sometimes the attachments can come off your teeth. If they do, you can continue to wear your aligners and call us to make an appointment to have them replaced.
